Expect stopping and delays
Date: July 24 starting at 11 a.m.
- Traffic will be stopped at all intersection locations within the project and at north and south transitions to allow the opening of a 32 kilometre section of Highway 63, north of Mariana Lake, at the 154 to 186 kilometre markers.
- Once the twinning is opened, the speed will be 110 km/h on main lanes and 100 km/h on the transition lanes.
- After the twinned section is open, work will continue on the existing (old) highway, where construction zones will have speed limits of 80 km/h to allow safety improvements to be made.
- These safety improvements include removing climbing/passing lanes, roadside turnouts and toilets.
Additional information
- The project also included one safety rest area, eight kilometres of service roads, intersection improvements and median crossovers.
- Drivers are reminded to obey all flag persons, signs and signals.
- Fines for speeding are doubled in construction zones.
- Visit 511 Alberta for up-to-date information about construction on Alberta roads and other traffic information.
