Stars of Alberta Volunteer Award

Now in its 16th year, the annual awards program recognizes outstanding Alberta volunteers whose contributions have made a lasting impact and helped improve the lives of community members.

“Volunteers represent the true meaning of community spirit and it is their dedication and generosity that makes our communities and our province a better place to live and visit. Say thank you to that special volunteer who has made a difference in your life and your community by nominating them for a Stars of Alberta Volunteer Award.”

David Eggen, Minister of Culture and Tourism

“Citizen engagement is essential to the quality of life in Alberta. The Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards highlight the value of volunteerism and publicly recognize the work of the amazing volunteers in our communities.”

Jann Beeston, Executive Director, Volunteer Alberta

Six awards will be presented: two in each category of youth, adult and senior at the Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards ceremony to be held December 4 as part of celebrations marking International Volunteer Day on December 5. Download the nomination form or submit your nomination online at culturetourism.alberta.ca/stars.

Deadline for nominations is September 15.

Since the program began in 2000, 97 Alberta volunteers from across the province have been recognized with this honour.

The Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards Program is part of the Government of Alberta’s efforts to help set a standard for service, encourage a sustained commitment to civic participation and inspire others to make volunteering a central part of their lives. Most importantly, it is a chance to pay tribute Alberta’s outstanding volunteers.
