“Last evening, I was heartbroken to learn that an Edmonton police officer, Constable Daniel Woodall, lost his life in the line of duty. I offer my sincere condolences to his family for their devastating loss. My thoughts are also with the second officer, Sergeant Jason Harley, who was shot, as well as his family and colleagues, as we pray for his full and speedy recovery. This tragic event is a somber reminder of the dangers our men and women in uniform face every day in their service to Albertans. I join Alberta families in thanking them for all they do to protect our communities.”

Premier Rachel Notley

“It is with a very heavy heart that I send my condolences to the family of the fallen officer. This was a senseless and devastating crime against the very people who work day-in and day-out to keep our communities safe. As we support the families and the surviving officer, I encourage Albertans to join me in thanking the Edmonton Police Service, law enforcement staff and emergency services personnel across our province for all they do.”
