This release was issued under a previous government.
Premier Jim Prentice announced the government’s plans last week after meeting with public sector union leaders.
“We want to reset the relationship with public sector workers, and repealing Bill 45 is an important first step. This helps us move forward and work together with unions to define what public sector labour relations in Alberta will look like in the future.”
Protecting Albertans from illegal strikes and ensuring public services are available during labour disputes remain important issues, as government moves toward an essential services model for public sector labour legislation.
The bill is expected to be debated in the Legislative Assembly this week.
