“Our government is committed to supporting infrastructure that promotes economic development, supports the province’s economy and keeps Albertans working. With this in mind, we are providing $400 million from this year’s budget to ensure municipalities have the capacity to meet their current infrastructure project commitments.”

This funding should help our partners meet their capital infrastructure commitments and position them well for the tough budget cycles ahead.”
MSI Projects
MSI has supported over 4,800 municipal infrastructure projects to date, including:
- $10.4 million towards new and rehabilitated transit buses and $4 million in Light Rail Transit vehicle retrofits in Edmonton in 2014;
- Over $20.8 million in road construction and rehabilitation projects in the City of Red Deer in 2014;
- $6 million for paving and widening several roads in Red Deer County in 2014; and
- Over $6.4 million for upgrades and rehabilitation of roads in Lacombe County in 2014.
The provision of third-quarter funding brings this year’s MSI funding to $1.6 billion, will apply existing criteria to projects and will be made available to municipalities in the coming weeks.
Since it was first introduced in 2007, government has allocated over $6 billion of its total $11.3 billion MSI commitment and has assisted with over 4,800 projects.
