Young will meet with key policymakers and state officials, take part in government committee meetings and learn about South Dakota’s legislative priorities. Young will also participate in a number of events being organized by the regional Consulate General of Canada to raise Canada’s profile in South Dakota.
“This is an excellent opportunity to continue to foster stronger ties with South Dakota. The state plays a key role in market access for Alberta and is a major trading partner for our agriculture and energy sectors.”
Alberta exports approximately $100 million worth of products annually to South Dakota, mainly in fertilizers, beef, wood, plastic and crude oil. The province maintains a strong relationship with the state through mutual involvement in the Council of State Governments Midwest organization.
