2015 Child Development Professional Award of Excellence

The awards highlight the importance of early childhood development and recognize the positive impact child development professionals have on pre-school and school-age children. Albertans can visit humanservices.alberta.ca to learn more about the awards and how to nominate a child development professional. Nominations are open until February 20.

“Thousands of dedicated professionals provide respectful and safe learning environments for our children every day. By stopping to recognize those who make exceptional contributions, we can inspire many more to continue helping parents with early childhood development, which is so important in a child’s life.”

Heather Klimchuk, Minister of Human Services

Nominees can work with children in child care, early childhood development programs, and Parent Link Centres that are licensed or approved by Human Services, and early childhood services programs approved by Education.

A total of nine awards will be presented in the categories of individuals, teams and programs. Award recipients must demonstrate excellence in at least one of the following areas:

  • Innovative programming
  • Inclusionary practices
  • Collaborative partnerships
  • Leadership
  • Promising practices
  • Family/parent support
  • Community building
  • Continuous improvement

The Alberta Child Care Association will also present an Award of Distinction to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the advancement of early learning and child care in Alberta.

Early childhood development is a priority of Human Services and is supported across the Alberta government.
