This release was issued under a previous government.

“During my first legislative session as Premier, I will demonstrate the leadership Alberta needs through an agenda that is guided by my five priorities and the priorities set by Albertans. Government’s first and foremost duty is to serve the people of our province by way of sound policies and principles, while working to meet the needs of our growing province and furthering its success and prosperity. This is my promise to Albertans.”

Jim Prentice, Premier of Alberta

“We begin the fall sitting of the Legislature with a focus on continuing to earn the trust of Albertans. Under Premier Prentice’s leadership, our government will put forth a legislative agenda that signals a new vision and direction for this government.”

Jonathan Denis, Government House Leader and Minister of Justice and Solicitor General

The fall session will include legislation that sets the groundwork for a new era in government and responds to what Premier Prentice heard over the course of the summer and during the recent by-elections.

As promised, Bill 1 will hit the reset button on property rights in Alberta by taking immediate steps to address concerns raised by landowners. Bill 2 will deliver on the commitment made by Premier Prentice to end entitlements and hold government to account by enforcing the highest ethical standards.

These and other important pieces of legislation will highlight this government’s focus on rebuilding relationships, acting in the best interests of Albertans, and earning back public trust.

Proposed legislation for fall session also includes:

  • The Condominium Property Amendment Act
  • The Personal Information Protection Amendment Act
  • The Chartered Professional Accountants Act
  • The Horse Racing Alberta Amendment Act
  • The Securities Amendment Act
  • The Statutes Amendments Act
  • The Justice Statutes Amendment Act
