From November 5 – 9, anyone who purchases daytime parking at Northlands can leave their vehicle until noon the following day at no additional charge and take a safer, alternative route home.

“Despite the tragic consequences, some individuals continue to drink and drive. Albertans are encouraged to make responsible choices and it’s an easy decision that can save your life or someone else’s life.”

Wayne Drysdale, Minister of Transportation

The partnership slogans - “keep your ride hitched in our stable tonight” and “leave your trusty steed where it will be safe” remind attendees to plan ahead for a safe CFR experience.

Over the past five years in Alberta, 6,649 people were injured and 444 people were killed in collisions involving drinking drivers.

The Canadian Finals Rodeo and Farmfair International are about having a great time while enjoying the western hospitality our city is known for,” said Tim Reid, President & CEO, Northlands. “We encourage guests to have a great time but please drink responsibly and get home safe.”

To ensure rodeo fans are aware of this option, flyers will be distributed by parking attendants, posters will be displayed through the venue, announcers will advise audience members at each rodeo performance, buttons will be worn by food and beverage servers and digital ads will be displayed.

Total cost of the campaign is approximately $55,000.
