This release was issued under a previous government.

Nominations for pre-kindergarten teachers will also be accepted for the first time since the awards began. The 2015 awards will recognize approximately 130 semi-finalists, 20 of whom will receive an Excellence in Teaching Award.

Award recipients receive a certificate of recognition and access to $4,000 for professional learning.  Semifinalists receive certificates and access to $1,500 for professional learning.

Since inception, more than 10,000 nominations have been submitted and more than 500 educators have received awards from the program.

Alberta Education presents the 27th annual Excellence in Teaching Awards with the support of the Alberta School Boards Association, the Alberta School Councils’ Association, the Alberta Teachers’ Association, the Association of Alberta Deans of Education and the College of Alberta School Superintendents.
