As of October 9, motorists can access a new wider steel bridge that stretches 70 metres over the Heart River. The bridge is located about two kilometres north of Nampa and 25 kilometers south of Peace River.

This bridge will improve motorist safety, reduce congestion and support future economic expansion in the Peace Region at a cost of approximately $10 million. Work on the bridge began last October and was completed on time and on budget.

Construction crews will remain in the area until the end of October as they continue to work on landscaping and demolition of the old Heart River Bridge.

Highway rehabilitation

In the same area, crews have completed $11 million worth of rehabilitation work on Highway 2.

This includes 40 kilometres of paving using recycled asphalt and improvements to four intersections on this busy northern highway.
