“This week, Alberta children demonstrated that they are among the highest achievers in academics across the country. Alberta’s ranking in the Pan-Canadian Assessment Program and results from the Provincial Achievement Tests showed that our students are achieving excellence in sciences and, in particular, physics, chemistry, and biology in the high school grades. This is significant as Alberta is a knowledge-based economy with a strong influence in science.

“We will always strive for improvement in the way we teach and support our students and our teachers. That is why it is with great pride, that this week as a government, we have committed to enhancing our students’ access to high quality classrooms by beginning to plan for an additional 75 major school projects, on top of the 155 due to be completed by 2016-17. These classrooms will provide schools across Alberta with approximately 35,000 spaces for new enrolment. This is the most expansive school infrastructure project in Alberta history and one of the most important investments we can make.

“As the Premier of Alberta, and as a father, and grandfather, I am so proud of our students, their teachers and their families. We must all support Alberta’s children in being the best they can be.”
