This release was issued under a previous government.

“Today’s news is a very positive development for Alberta, and for all Canadians. After years of discussion, this is a significant step towards fair and equal access to critical new markets.

“From the beginning, we pushed for a science-based, objective approach to support decision-making. Our government has met with officials from 24 of the 28 EU Member States to discuss Alberta’s responsible development of its resources.

“Access to and expansion of new energy markets ensures we can continue to invest in good schools, quality hospitals and grow our communities.

“While there are still some concerns that need to be addressed, like more clarity around reporting and compliance, we will continue to work with the federal government and advocate for Alberta’s interests.”
