“Alberta Health has accepted all of the Auditor General’s recommendations regarding long-term care for seniors. I would like to thank the Auditor General for his work as well as his recognition of the work that has been done in this area since the last review.

“As outlined in my mandate letter from the Premier, improving long-term care is a top priority and we will continue our efforts to make improvements in this area.

“My ministry will implement changes that address the Auditor’s recommendations, including reviewing appropriate ways to publicly report on long-term care and releasing updated continuing care health service standards.

“Alberta Health has also accepted the Auditor General’s recommendations related to recovering health-care costs from motor vehicle collisions.

“We will review the processes used to assess what costs are recovered from insurance companies. Our goal is to continue recovering health-care costs for automobile-related injuries while, at the same time, ensuring reasonable insurance rates for Alberta drivers.”
