Cal Dallas, Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations, along with David Xiao, MLA for Edmonton-McClung, Mary Anne Jablonski, MLA for Red Deer-North and Ron Casey, MLA for Banff-Cochrane, will join hundreds of legislators, business leaders and community advocates at the Council of State Governments (CSG) National meeting and CSG West conference in Anchorage, Alaska from August 8-14. The sessions will cover a variety of topics related to global economic development, innovation and rural affairs.
CSG is a non-profit organization that provides state and provincial lawmakers an opportunity to share best policy practices and discuss and cooperate on regional issues. The combined meeting format offers Alberta officials the opportunity to meet with several officials from across North America.
“Alberta has seen significant growth in our energy, agriculture, manufacturing, high-tech, construction and commercial services sectors. These conferences provide a platform to discuss approaches for pursuing these new opportunities and increasing trade and investment in all of these areas.”
Later in the month Minister Dallas will participate in the Intermountain Energy Summit in Idaho Falls, Idaho, from August 18-20. This two day conference focuses on leveraging the full potential of the region’s abundant energy resources.
From August 7 to 13, Everett McDonald, MLA for Grande Prairie-Smokey, will attend Bowhay Institute of Legislative Leadership Development (BILLD) in Madison, Wisconsin. As a member of the CSG Midwest, an Alberta representative is invited to BILLD each year to take part in leadership seminars and training, and sessions on energy, trade and economic development.
“The BILLD program has a proud tradition of leadership development and supporting the exchange of ideas and best practices. I’m thrilled for this opportunity to represent Alberta in conversations about important regional issues.”
Under the Building Alberta Plan, our government is investing in families and communities, living within our means, and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
