During the closure, crews will rebuild the highway using Styrofoam blocks as lightweight fill covered by clay and gravel. Anchors will also be installed in two nearby locations to help stabilize the ground.

Detour signs will be installed to redirect traffic to Highway 2 and Highway 683.

Since early 2014, crews have been constructing two retaining walls in the area that will help stabilize the hill in any future slides.

This past February, crews worked hard to ensure that local residents were able to safely access the road even though construction continued on the permanent roadway.
