National Honours Exhibit: Interactive displays

An interactive Alberta Order of Excellence display is one of many things to see at the exhibit

The exhibit “From Far and Wide – Honouring Great Canadians” highlights individuals, recognizing them for extraordinary achievement, bravery, valour and service.

The display will feature information on the Canadian Honours System, including the Alberta Order of Excellence, the extraordinary citizens upon whom these honours are bestowed and the Governor General and Lieutenant Governors who confer the honours.

“Our province is a dynamic, innovative and compassionate place to be thanks to the contributions of exemplary Albertans who have led the way as community leaders. The Alberta Order of Excellence, and all of our national honours, recognize the builders, visionaries and sterling citizens among us who have made a difference. I encourage all Albertans to learn more about the Canadian Honours System, and to draw inspiration from the legacies of those, from far and wide, who have helped to shape our great nation.”

His Honour, Col. (Ret’d) the Honourable Donald S. Ethell, OC OMM AOE MSC CD LLD, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta

The exhibit will open in conjunction with the Canada Day festivities on the Legislature Grounds July 1st and will run through late fall 2014.

The public is invited to visit the exhibit. Students will also have opportunities to explore during guided school tours.
