All closures take place overnight in order to minimize traffic impact on travellers.

Southbound Anthony Henday Drive at Yellowhead Trail

The ramp that connects westbound Yellowhead Trail to southbound Anthony Henday Drive will be closed Thursday, April 10 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday, April 11.

To access southbound Anthony Henday Drive from westbound Yellowhead Trail travellers will:

  • Continue heading west on Yellowhead Trail to 17 Street/116 Avenue to eastbound Yellowhead Trail to then access southbound Anthony Henday Drive.

Southbound Anthony Henday Drive to Yellowhead Trail and Baseline Road

Construction crews will then close two ramps overnight between 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Friday, April 11 to Sunday, April 13 at:

  • Westbound Yellowhead Trail to southbound Anthony Henday Drive; and
  • Southbound Anthony Henday Drive to westbound Baseline Road ramp.

The detour will be:

  • Commuters will be directed to take the 17 St exit off westbound Yellowhead Trail. Head south on 17 St, turn left onto Baseline Road and access Anthony Henday Drive southbound from Baseline Road eastbound.

Northbound Anthony Henday Drive to Yellowhead Trail

Then crews will close the northbound Anthony Henday Drive to eastbound Yellowhead Trail ramp from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night from Monday, April 14 to Wednesday, April 16 to install the third and final span of the new bridge.

To access eastbound Yellowhead Trail motorists will:

  • Head north on Anthony Henday Drive and exit onto Yellowhead Trail westbound to 17 Street/116 Avenue.

  • Motorists are reminded to obey all flag persons, signs and signals.
  • Fines for speeding double in construction zones.
  • Signs advising travellers of the detours will be posted.
  • Using Alberta’s P3 model for highways allows Northeast Anthony Henday Drive to be finished in 2016, three years earlier than through conventional delivery and at a savings of $370 million for taxpayers.
  • The Alberta government has committed more than $4 billion toward the construction of the Edmonton ring road, including the northeast section, a $1.81 billion investment.
  • This project is one of many that deliver on Alberta Transportation’s Building Alberta commitment to support the economy and increase market access by focusing on capital plan projects for core infrastructure and key corridors.
