This release was issued under a previous government.

The Bow River bridge near Seebe will be reduced to a single lane as crews install new curbs, new bridge rails and a new concrete overlay.

Work will take place 12 hours a day, seven days a week to complete the necessary upgrades to the 53-year-old bridge.

Wrapping up at the end of June, this rehabilitation work will extend the lifespan of the bridge by 30 years.

Bridge rehabilitation on Highway 1X

  • Highway 1X traffic over the Bow River bridge will be reduced to a single lane.

  • Speed will be reduced to 60 km/h in the construction zone.
  • Motorists should use caution in this area, obeying all message boards and flag persons.
  • Fines for speeding are doubled in construction zones when workers are present.
