This release was issued under a previous government.

The government has also set a goal of completing 90% of all other outstanding claims from the June 2013 flooding (agricultural and business) by June 30.

A number of new initiatives are underway that will enhance and support current initiatives, while also increasing the DRP’s capacity to resolve files in a timely manner:

  • An Insurance Advisory Group was established to support the DRP in resolving residential or small business claims with complex insurance issues.
  • Payments are now being issued to all outstanding eligible residential and tenant applications that do not have current insurance issues preventing their resolution.
  • A team was established to eliminate road blocks for business claims and work them through to completion.

The Government of Alberta’s contract with Landlink expires March 31. Moving forward, Landlink will no longer be responsible for administering any new Disaster Recovery Program.

In order to ensure the administration of existing DRPs without interruption, beginning on April 1 LandLink will be on a one-year transitional contract with the Government of Alberta.

Any new Disaster Recovery Program that commences after March 31 will be handled by an internal DRP Administration Group that will be set up by the Government of Alberta.

LandLink will transition any outstanding claims to the new DRP Administration Group prior to the completion of their one year transition contract (March 31, 2015).

The Government of Alberta is working hard to help flood victims rebuild, while also being responsible with taxpayers’ dollars.
