Medical Examiner asks for public's help to identify woman

Edmonton...
Alberta’s Chief Medical Examiner is asking for the public’s help to identify a woman whose body was found on May 13 in Calgary. A series of photos are being released in hopes that someone may be able to recognize the woman’s distinctive tattoos, clothing or jewelry.

The adult woman’s body was found in a river bed in Fish Creek Park near Mallard Point in Calgary. She was wearing light blue jeans, a burgundy/red hooded GAP sweatshirt and black boots with side zippers and chunky black heels. The woman is estimated to be between 33-45 years old, five-foot two in height, 157 pounds and has thick black shoulder length hair. She has number of tattoos including: a colored wreath circling her navel, a colored rose with the word ART through the stem on her left ankle and a faded black outline of a butterfly on her left forearm. She was also found wearing two costume jewelry rings. The cause of death is not considered suspicious at this time.

“By releasing this information, we hope that someone will recognize this woman and come forward,” said Dr. Sam Andrews, Alberta’s Assistant Chief Medical Examiner. “We would like to be able to contact her family and give them some closure.”

Calgary Police Services released a media notice on May 25 asking the public to help identify the woman. Anyone with information that might assist with the identification of the woman is encouraged to call the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary at 403-297-8123.
