Calgary case solved with help from media and the public
Medical Examiner identifies man
Calgary...
Thanks to the help of Albertans, the man whose body was found on the bank of the Bow River near Zoo Island in Calgary on August 4 has been identified.

The Medical Examiner’s Office received numerous phone calls and a solid lead after the man’s photograph was released to media on November 1. The tip led investigators to the man’s dental records and positive identification was made through medical x-rays. The man was identified as Douglas Porter. He had been living in Calgary and had no fixed address.

“We’ve now been able to identify Mr. Porter after we had exhausted all the usual methods,” said Dr. Sam Andrews, Assistant Chief Medical Examiner. “On behalf of the Medical Examiner’s office, I’d like to thank the media for helping get the word out and I thank Albertans for responding to our call for help.”

The Medical Examiner’s Office has not been able to locate any family members of the deceased and would appreciate any information that will help to do so.
